Hi...

I have a question for anyone who is familiar with the PostgreSQL tables for
DSpace. This is for DSpace 1.8.2.

I have a script that runs a series of SQL queries and generates reports at our
site. In the reports, I list monthly downloads with the title of the item and
the author(s). It turns out that in my reports, I am listing all the
contributors for an item as the authors of the item. and I've been asked to
just list contributor.author, only.

To get the authors, I do the following:
select distinct_id from bi_2_dmap where item_id=$item_id;
then
select value from bi_2_dis where id=$author_id;    (where $author_id =
distinct_id)

I had assumed that these tables held just "contributor.author", but it appears
that they hold all contributors. Is there somewhere in SQL where the different
types of contributors are identified?

My thanks in advance.
