I deployed web.xml only. But I am unable to start solr....
FAIL - Application at context path /solr could not be started
FAIL - Encountered exception org.apache.catalina.LifecycleException: Failed to
start component [/solr]
Any suggestions ?

Assuming you're using the default settings, you will also need the solr webapp
(for search, browse, recently added lists, facets and usage statistics).
