Eike, thank you for your reply and the links. Good to know that there is already a bug report about that.
I have also removed the file description input field in jspui/submit/choose-file.jsp. You are right, its still possible to enter a description for any of the files on the file review page, and its working perfectly at this point. So this solution is absolutely ok for me.
