I found a couple of simple quick steps that may be helpful in setting
up D*Chat. To test your receive text capability, Link and Unlink your
Gateway - When Robin's voice 'Remote System Unlinked" is sent, so is
the following text:
$GPGGA,154810.02,3347.7446,N,08421.7047,W,1,04,4.5,293.8,M,-30.1,M,,*56
5:38:22 AM: AA4RC ,
Show GPS in the D*Chat settings should to ON.
Also ECHO, not only echoes 10 seconds of voice, it also echoes data.
So you can send a short test message in text and it will be echoed
back to you.
I was seeing KB5NFT in Denton, TX W5NGU C send text thru REF001C, so
I believe text can now be sent thru the reflector in DPLUS (please
correct me if this is wrong). For some reason the station in Denton
was not seeing me. Text has worked thru the Gateways, but I wasn't
sure about thru the reflectors. 73, Steve NU5D
