Well, you do! You get the convenience of a built-in GPS ... and of course you get the GPS so I don't have to buy another one. I also prefer to be able to listen to the second band (analog) because I use the rig to listen to my D-STAR repeater on 440, and our 2m analog system with IRLP, at the same time. With the ID-800, I'd have to choose which I listened to. For me, the extra available band is useful, but I DO understand YOUR position. Season's Greetings Dave VE3GYQ/W8
