Not quite right. This isn't PCM where there's a direct correlation with the 
audio frequency and transmitted frequency. The CODEC is a multi-band CODEC 
where it looks at a number of slices of the audio spectrum, not just 2.5 KHz. 
For example, since little intelligibility is below 60 Hz, that probable isn't 
looked at.

Bob, remember, D-Star is Narrow Band FM (2.5Khz)
versus Wide FM @ 5Khz Deviation. You putting
all your power in to a narrower bandwidth
rather then spreading it out on wider bandwidth's.
