lnxtux, until you ask a clear question no-one can answer you.
I recall someone even posted a link to a guide on how to ask questions.
This will help you get better results from the LUG.
Theres more than one way to backup linux and theres more than one way to
backup Oracle. So you have to tell us what you are trying to achieve
and in what sort of environment (ie how many systems, versions, how are
they networked, what is your medium, do you have SAN etc etc)
Your question is so vague, a person could write a 400 page book as an
answer.
If you want to have a useful answer and you aren't prepared to ask a
well formed question then expect either questions or insults, both
directed at trying to get you to clarify what you are asking.
By the way, we aren't all gurus...many of us, like myself are eternal
students of the Great Way of SysV and/or GNU (and BSD if you're Dan..but
then he's a guru).
Were on the same plain as you, just ask your questions right.
