Hi,

Tried all of this.  All actions fail because of 'read-only file system' even though I mounted as rw...?
Ideas appreciated.

thanks

Hi

I can mount the image using the loopback device, but I want to add and
remove (mostly remove) files from the image. Would it be safe to
mount the image as read-write to make these changes? Would the image
file be resized at umount?

Adding the files would be fine to the image and the image grows larger
if it is mounted read-write. If you delete files the sizes "probably"
won't get reduced. Well, i do this to get a rootfs on embedded systems.
The size does not decrement when you delete files in that scenario.
