If you are considering the linux switch then the palm is really the
only device that will sync with your linux. If you go with the life
drive - then you have 4gb for movies, pictures and mp3s. It also
weighs a lot and not for the timid indivdual who has problems arm
curling the 5lb dumbdell in the the gym :) Also you have no phone
capabilities. The next obvious choice is the treo - palm with phone
capabilities - but they are notoriously unreliable.
