Hello, I was using Linux years back (RedHat/Mandrake) years ago while I was in India on my desktop. However, after coming to UAE, I had an official laptop which had to have Windows system. Now, I have loaded OpenSuse 10.1 on an external USB hard disk and am using it regularly. I have a dual boot machine with Windows 2000 and OpenSuse. I use Thunderbird mail client with the mail folders being shared across windows as well as Linux so that I can use it with both the systems. I now am having problems in configuring the Aztech ADSL modem supplied by Etisalat. I got the tar.bz file for the eagle-usb modem driver from the CD. When I follow the instructions for loading the driver, i get an error of Kernel Source not found when i do the ./configure. I had original kernel 2.6.16.13-4-smp which was loaded from the CD which was upgraded online later with kernel 2.6.16.27-0.9-smp. I am attaching the error message below for information. Googling for the similar problem did not provide any pointers other than the information that I have to compile the kernel from source. I am not familiar with compiling kernel and do not want to risk landing in any other problems due to the mistakes which I may make while compiling the kernel. I have normally found that it is better to load packages with rpm files, but I was not able to find any Suse rpm the eagle usb modem. However rpm for Mandriva are available on the net. I am not sure if I will be able to laod the rpm of mandriva in Suse. Any help of getting the modem to work and getting connected to the internet from Linux will be appreciated. Regards N. Sridhar |
