I guess it doesn't. I have never tried to run it bridged, so I don't know why it would only sometimes ask you. Perhaps (wild guess?) it sees another wireless network (like a neighbor or other device?) occasionally, and is asking you if you would like to connect via that? Maybe that is the only time it offers the choice? Sometimes during setup it offers my neighbor's network, and I select mine, so it is possible that it sees another network, especially with other devices in the home or close neighbors.... There are good phone apps (I use wifi analyzer - android) for detecting wifi networks, their strength, channel, etc). I would suggest that you try squeezelite-x or the old squeezelite. LMS sees these as players, so if you can play from the internet, and your music files through your PC (assume it's a PC), then you know your player/controller is the problem and everything else is fine. It's really useful otherwise. Before I bought a SB radio, I used squeezelite all the time for when I was working on my PC. Also, normally the controller is required to get the receiver setup, but I remember seeing somewhere that one of the members developed an app/method for direct setup of the receiver without the controller.
