Dear Gergö, AFAIK noncorming VTK data is simply disconnected elements. Since the connectivity information is missing this is not enough information to construct a grid. It’s not actually a grid, just a bunch of disconnected unstructured grids consisting of one element each.
Both ALUGrid and UGGrid support non-conforming refinement (where you get hanging nodes). But to my knowledge there is no way to read a non-conforming grid directly. There is no grid format supported that can describe such grids. (Expect corner point grids via the opm module). Both msh and DGF can carry cell values like porosity. And you can also always attach user data based on the element index. (Note here that the element index in the file might not be the same as in the grid instance, but the gridFactory.insertionIndex() function provides the mapping between them.) If you explain your use case more, maybe there is some other information I can provide. Best wishes Timo —— __________________________________________________________ Jun.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. So far I've used UG with conforming vtu files inluding cell values like heterogeneous Porosity, Kx etc., but nonconforming cell transitions are identified as boundaries by makeElementGeometries in fvelementgeometry.hh. (ALUGrid supposedly supports nonconforming grids, but no vtk, only msh and dgf, which cannot carry cell values like Porosity to my knowledge.) Many thanks.
