Make sure you've selected 'ethernet' in the Appletalk control panel 
and you're using a crossover 10BaseT cable.   Turn on filesharing and 
click on Appleshare in the Chooser.  You should see the host  Mac and 
be able to mount it on your desktop by logging in like you would with 
any server.  If that doesn't work, be certain you have all the 
ethernet drivers installed & try again.
