I sold my beloved 2300c in the past week, although I do have a
beautiful 400mhz G3 with which I'm very happy. But I kept the Dock and
the spare monitor and keyboard for what I basically considered a toy,
a 210 with 12MB RAM (not bad) and an 80 MB Hard Drive. Now that I have
the 210 in the Dock, I realize I don't have a driver for my
StyleWriter II printer.

The 210 is not on a network (and I just sold the Asante FriendlyNet
adapter, so no killer-crossover moves...). It does have the floppy
drive.

What I did was:

1. Go to the Apple site with the G3, get the driver in a mountable
disk format. Realize the .bin or .hqx file is meant to unstuff
automatically ... save the resulting files to an FTP site.

2. Go to a lab with a floppy drive, put the files on a floppy disk.

3. Save the files to the Duo hard drive, try to mount. Realize that
the files were saved with Disk Copy, which I need to open.

4. Go through the same process as in 1. and 2., except for Disk Copy
v. 6.3.3.

5. Now I have Disk Copy running on the Duo, but I realize that the
image file which I thought should be a disk image for the Style Writer
II driver (StyleWriter II 1.2.img) is not read as a mountable item,
but a 801 KB Text Document. It doesn't mount via Disk Copy.

6. Ask for help.

Any suggestions? The Duo would be very useful for simple note taking,
etc. if I could print from it. Otherwise I could just tap away at it,
but would need to take it back to the Dock to put anything on a
floppy, then walk the floppy elsewhere to print or email or FTP...

Thanks!
Michael
