I run VPC 3.0 on my non-upgraded 2400--it runs sloow, but not unaceptably.
I only do what I need to; I don't do any more.

Beware that some Wallstreets are crippled in that they may have passive
matrix screens or no Level 2 cache (I belive only the 12.1" screen models
suffer from this).  While they have some great features, they also weigh
7.8 pounds (!!!). Also, the later ones have a full 8mb video ram
(RagePro?). THe earlier ones only have 4mb.

While they are a G3, for only a couple hundred $$$ more yo can get a
Lombard--only 5.9 pounds!
