I have a Duo 2300c that I have recently connected Lewis! Welcome to the list. You should find lots of great help here. However, a few tips first (To help you get better responses to your questions): 1.) Be certain the the subject of you message pertains to your question. Your original message was under the subject of IrDA, which the Duo doesn't even have. Many Duo owners would likely have ignored you message. 2.) When replying, make sure that you leave in only the text to which you directly refer in your reply. Delete the rest. This is especially importnat for the footers that appear at the end of every message (The ads). Now, onto the helpful part! <smirk> > It has a built-in Powerbook Express Modem 14.4 that won't work with any > system higher than 7.5.5. Who told you that? It's been a while since I fired up my Duo's modem, but you should be able to download the Express Modem Software from http://asu.info.apple.com . Look for version 3.0 or later (I can't remember which is the latest). As far as I know, it works under 8.6. You will also want to download the latest open transport for your System software and I find that Open Transport/PPP works great for dialing out. Others recommend Free PPP and Remote Access by Apple, but I don't knwo what version of the OS Remote access will run on (and provide PPP). As for which version of the OS you should run, that is another holy war. If you don't have 56MB of RAM, 8.5 or 8.6 are out of consideration. 8.1 Works great and many swear by it, and still others love 7.6.1 for its smaller, more 'zippy' nature. Uses less memory, too. Of course, it has less PowerPC native code, so some disagree. Hope that helps a little.... Tom ---------- Duo/2400 List, The friendliest place on the Net!
