I tried that myself long ago. It can be done but don't expect
terrific transfer speeds due to the slow SCSI bus on the 2300c.

Yes to both questions, but you will end with a folder named after the
hard drive inside the bigger drive. If that's what you want, you're
set. If you want otherwise, the surest thing to do is open the folder
or smaller hard drive, hit command-A to select all files, and drag
them anywhere you want. Invisible files will be taken care of that
way.
