With my DUO 2300 I've been using a Citizen notebook II portable printer when
on the road. I see them often on e-bay around $30-$50. It's very light, has a
battery bay for true portability. I use it for light tasks of a few pages.
It prints a nice thermal ink quality page. IMHO it wouldn't be good for jobs
over a few pages. It will print color with a color ribbon. The plus side is
no special cable needed and it uses the Stylewriter 1200 printer extension.
The one major draw back is that I don't think the thermal printer ribbon is
sold in stores any longer however they often show up on e-bay. I've paid
anywhere from $5-$10 for a box of five black ribbons.
A printer I've just received which is MAC compatible is the HP DeskJet 340 I
purchased mine with adapter and 25-30 page sheet feeder for $40 on e-bay. It
is larger & heavier than my Citizen but it uses an easy to find ink cartridge
(can even refill it yourself) and it can print color with the correct
cartridge swap. It has a battery bay too. It's draw back is it takes a
special cable (which I have yet to buy, found a site selling them for approx.
$30). I have yet to find out what it needs in the way of a printer extension.
Does anyone know? The HP 340 manual PDF was not helpful, only stated that it
was Mac compatible.
