I have been the not so proud owner of a 2400c for less than six hours and
now my 2400c is dead to the world.

I took it out of its box, plugged it in and hit the on switch. Nothing. I
hit the reset switch and she chimed....15 seconds later I got a boot into
8.1. The battery was quite dead. Less than an hour later, I have two new
partitions, 9.1 and 8.5, a copy of Navigator, and I am ready to hit the web
with a Farallon PCMCIA card. I sleep the book....IT NEVER WAKES UP! I get
a freeze on wake, and a single click when I hit the switch. I had the same
troubles with my old 5300c. I pop the battery, pull out the AC, and hold
the reset switch. Same Click. I check out Sidney Ho's page on terminal
lockups to no avail. When I don't get the click I get the GLOD. If I
manage to get a startup chime, 2 out of three times I get a car crash. If
I can get a happy Mac it freezes before the line graph starts on a
shift-restart! I get a real chime only after I pull the battery, and the
AC and let her sit for about 10 min. Most times that results in no
video. I want to keep this PowerBook, but I cannot have this unreliable
machine for too long if I expect any possibility of returning it to the seller.

HELP!
Thanks!
Scott Strungis
