I'm currently working on a listers' (Hi Bob) 2400c doing some thermal mods to help keep it cool. (plus an HD upgrade.) His had the 320Mhz Interware G3 upgrade installed, but the person who performed the original upgerade work left the CPU thermal pad out(! ...hopefully just an oversight.) The result was the 2400c running *very* hot, and causing resultant problems. The original 2400c design allowed the factory-installed components (the original HD & CPU) to firmly contact the frame's built-in heat sinks. The CPU has a pretty extensive heat sink, with a long rod that pulls heat away, and the original drive had a big thermal pad resting against it. The later upgrades of both products were slimmer, and therefore left air gaps between themselves and the parts of the case designed to cool them. The G3 upgrades came with thermal gap pads, but without them, or some other mod to eliminate the gap, you are going to have some serious heat problems. With some guidance from an excellent Japanese website on the subject <http://www.ab.aeonnet.ne.jp/~tkishino/Heat.html> and some product I'm sourcing I hope we can keep his 'book running cool, and theoretically for many more years.
