Recently, I obtained a Duo 230 and a RasterOps DuoMate 16sc dock (the basis for the Newer UltraDock series).
Here's my problem... this morning, I trashed the system on the Duo (Happy Mac to clear screen to flashing question mark) and need to do something to fix it- the obivous thought being to put it into SCSI disk mode connected to my PowerMac. The problem is that the DuoMate does not have an HDI-30 SCSI connector, it has a DB-25. According to what I've seen on Google, I should be able to force it into SCSI disk mode by holding a particular key during startup... unfortunately, I can't find any newsgroup post or web page which says what that key is. Anybody know? In the meantime, I tried booting from a Zip disk with a universal install of MacOS 7.6. I've tried it while both holding and not holding the Option key and can see the Zip get accessed, but it never successfully boots off of the Zip. Thoughts? Failing all that... anybody got a cheap Duo floppy? :-) Thanks... <<<john>>> ---------- Duo/2400 List, The friendliest place on the Net! A listserv for users and fans of Mac subportables.
