> Does anyone know if a battery with these specs will work with my 2300? > Apple NiMH Duo 210-280c series. Model no. MC-T4 13.5 1800mAh NiMH. > How do I tell what type (I, II, or III) it is?
Apple's batteries are: Type I, 1100 mAh, model M7782 Type II, 1400 mAh, model M1499 (type 2 logo) Type III, 1600 mAh, model M1499 (type 3 logo) Yours is a Type IV battery, third party (BTI perhaps?). It will work with any machine, including your 2300c. I don't know why BTI sell one model for the 210/280 and one model for the 2300. I asked their European importer in Belgium but never got any reply. Apple's battery are interchangeable, although you're not going to get much of a Type I with a 2300c due to the extra requirements of the processor and colour screen.
