Hi listers,

Just picked up my first PowerBook (in fact my first laptop of any kind). I got
it for $15 in a garage sale It is a Duo 230. It came with a power supply and one
battery. The case has some
scratches, and a small crack on the front corner, just underneath the harddrive,
but this is not going to get any worst. With the AC adapter, it does power-up
(OS 7.1), and works, but clearly the PRAM battery is shot, and the main battery
(type III?) doesn't respond to charging. It came with the manual and the 7.1
system disks.

I could really use a laptop for my train commute, but I'm going to need a
battery that will last at least 40 minutes. Also a good PRAM battery.

So my question: is there any "trick" to recovering either the main or the PRAM
battery?

If not, where can I get replacements, and how much will it cost me?

Cheers,
       John
