I'd want to say, selective filtering offers the biggest speed increase.

iCab's greatest advantage is it's ability to selectively filter out bandwith-hogging ads, images, java. And that this can be done on an individual web site basis, even individual pages.

Don't like the ads on that other site?
But want all the images on the news one?

And maybe...
Want the links only underlined on that odd site?
And text made more visible on the one with the funny background?

Well, iCab can do it.

That aside from the fact that iCab has real people you can talk to behind it.
