wow! what an idea! that seemed to have done something... i no longer get the sad mac, or the "problem with memory" message on bootup-- best of all the OS (7.6, 9.1, linux) is reporting the correct amount of RAM (48MB)..
wonder what this really means though... the apple memory module didn't want to play nicely with the others.. ?
Many times, when you have 3 RAM modules in a 1400, it doesnt like it. Sometimes 3 modules works, sometimes it doesnt. Its just voodoo.
i will have to document this, and put it online somewhere -- it probably isn't the first time it has happened...
