I was wondering if there was more code in 8.1 that dealt with PPC more efficiently than in 7.6.

Hmmm....having never sat them side by side so can't really
say. To me, the
7.5.3 '040 machine is "snappier" than the 8.1 PPC machine.

Hi, let me jump into this discussion...

I recently got a 2300c after about 10 YEARS "doin' the Duo 210-280c shuffle" ; One thing I can say about it, sans any speed improvement, is that it sure is nice to run the same apps I use on my desktop PCI macs...!

Anyway, I run OS 7.6.1 on it.

Do U think Speed Doubler 8 (which I recently ordered) will be much of speed improvement?

Thanks,
Craig W.
