Thanks to all who provided info on replacing the case top so I could replace my trackpad (went crazy) and clicker (only worked half the time). In the process of doing this switch, I found that the screw had come loose on the left hinge, causing the clutch to not work properly. When I tightened it down with a tiny screw driver the head snapped off the screw, so I robbed a screw from the keyboard to replace the hinge screw, which worked like a charm.
