Greetings...

I've been enjoying the ramblings about the upgrade possibilities for my
trusty 2300c. You can bet I'd jump on the bandwagon if there was any
reasonable option; we all love these machines because they are an early
version of what we hoped the iBook would be: a GREAT little machine
(emphasize the word "little"). They're just a little slow for anyone
who's experienced a newer machine. I'll probably get a G3 'Book when
they're discontinued down the road a bit, just like I did with the Duo!

Currently, I'm really interested in the "downgrade" option of putting a
trackball in place of the trackpad. I thought the 'pad was really cool
when I first got it, but it has never worked reliably. It seems way too
subject to variances in humidity (and I live in dry Colo.!), I was
recently in steamy central NY, and it was constantly making the cursor
jump all over the screen. It seemed I had to be wiping my finger off
every other second... I have always loved the trackball concept, I have
a K'ton Turbomouse on my desktop machine, and although it IS strictly
personal preference, I think they're the only way to go! My question:
how hard is the procedure? I've opened my 'Book before, and did a HD
install in the DuoDock, so I'm pretty able. I'd appreciate someone with
experience giving me some tips on what the best approach is and what to
look out for. As always, thanks in advance.

Love this list!
John

And if someone figures out how to do the 2300/300 thing, let us all
know!!!
