The kits -- I got mine from powerbookguy.com, who I heartily recommend--
include a new palmrest.  Since you've opened your 2300c up already you
know everything you need to know.  Just remove the keyboard, unplug the
trackpad, remove the palmrest, plug in the trackball, plug in the
keyboard, reassemble, and voila!
