I have Debian GNU/Linux on my 2400c, so I'll try to field this. Having
"grown up" in the Wintel land, and loving the CLI, I prefer Linux to
MacOS for many things. For browsing, I use Netscape, or Lynx, if I
don't feel like firing up a GUI. While there are some word processing
applications for Linux, I don't use one. Instead, I use the venerable
Emacs in combination with TeX, a typesetting package.

I also do email, read Usenet news, and all sorts of other good stuff.
I've got it set up to play mp3s when I ride the train. I do a lot of
programming. I wrote my own address-book software in Python.

Basically, Linux users do the same thing as everyone else, but they
trade ease-of-use for power, speed, and efficiency. This is changing,
as more effort is put behind making Linux acceptable for the desktop.

Of course, I'm the type of guy who disassembles his 2400 just to see if
it's really as difficult to do as everyone says. (It's not.)
