My wife is experiencing the identical problem with her 2400. She woke it up
from sleep a couple of days ago and got nothing but the green glow of death
from the sleep indicator. It reset just fine, but now will not charge the
battery, and the battery does not have enough juice left to start the
machine on its own.

Same symptoms, everything appears fine, but the battery indicator is at its
lowest level, no charging indicator (lightning bolt), but unlike yours, no
red X either (the red X usually indicates a missing battery - you can get
the same indication by running the PB with the battery removed).

You can try resetting the power manager (disconnect external power, remove
the battery, and depress the hard reset button on the back of the machine
for 30 seconds). This usually will fix any wierdnesses having to do with
batteries/charging on most PowerBooks. Unfortunately for her it didn't seem
to have any effect. I'll try it again later on today, but at this point I'm
perplexed.

Good luck.
