Ana, if I had a new-to-me 3400 with 48MB (I wish), the first thing I'd do is
low level that sucker and pop OS 8.6 on there, and install Internet Explorer
4.5 and Outlook Express 5.0 (in that order).

The IE/OExpr. is just my preference, not a slam against Netscape, which
would also run just fine on your machine.

I envy you. The 3400 weighs a ton, but it is my favorite non-G3 powerbook
out of the whole family. I have a Duo 280c with a 2300c board in it but I
LONG for a 3400 (or, ultimately a Wallstreet). But I digress.

You can leave 8.1 on there if you're happy with it, but 8.6 has more
internet features than just Sherlock

Drag a URL to the desktop to make a clickable internet link, for example.
When someone mentions a URL that I don't have time to visit but want to go
back to, I just drag the URL text to the desktop (or to a folder that I have
as a tab view at the bottom of the screen). I would think that the 3400
would be a killer web viewing/development machine. Great display.

Again, I digress.
