Hey, I'm having fun with it!
OK, we have our best analogies on the table. Which sounds most like
the following, what I consider prototypical, scenario:
"Why did the &!#$*! machine lock up? All I did was hit the 'Backup'
button! This is backup software, for pete's sake!"
Analogy 1:
>It's more like if you buy an adhesive cup holder that doesn't happen to
>stick to your particular dashboard and therefore falls off spilling coffee
>into your dash, shorting out your electrical system and resulting in the
>car crashing (somehow). Whose fault is it? The cup holder did not say it
Analogy 2:
> If a person is driving a car normally and staying in their lane, a wheel
>shouldn't fall off if they turn on the windshield wipers. *That* is
>the kind of
>thing I'm talking about.
On a completely unrelated note, would anyone be interested in sort of
an "off-topic" web-based discussion board? If I can scrounge up any
time, I might try to whip up something simple. I mean extremely
simple - no email addresses, no passwords, just the posts. I enjoy
and respect the opinions of folks on this list, and wish there was a
place for the off-topic discussions.
