I certainly wont be buying any more combo cards. I remember reading
the specs of my Newton2000 (yes I had one, great piece of gear!) and
they talked about the fact that combo cards were never going to be
supported in there because in order to have a PCMCIA slot have 2
functions you really had to overtake the plumbing as this simply
wasn't supported in the spec. This could have changed since then I
dont know, but I am also interested in things like running Linux, and
Linux will never support my GVCombo, and now I can't even run OS9 on
the thing without buying new hardware. If you buy the single use
generic cards you can use them for other things as well. Like my
Netopia ISDN router has PCMCIA slots for a modem. If you put a modem
in there then the Netopia support folks can dial right into your
router and set it up or run diagnostics for you. A combo card will
never be supported in applications like this.

OS9 has been great on my desktop machine. A few unfortunate problems
with some software, but the gains are worth it for me. But I'm still
getting sunk on this combo card and on my Stylewriter 4100 printer
which is also not supported under OS9:( (Apple is going to re-write
the drivers, but the sucked anyway. Worst printer Apple ever put
their names on! but no time soon, so I'm going to have to buy a new
one.

Just rambling on a Beautiful Sunday morning:) I also can't find the
support email that someone posted for the GV modems. I would like to
add my voice to the dissatisfied to help speed up their fixes. I
would be greatfull if someone could post it again.
