I have to agree with both statements; each personal or trivial response I
read makes me consider unsubscribing too. Posters should take care to
always consider whom the interested audience for a comment is; if it's less
than three people, mail it privately.

There are also some serious overquoting problems in a lot of posts that
I'll ascribe to mere newness with email: HTML crap generated and/or quoted
back, and the damn list-generated signature stuff at the bottom of half the
messages in each digest (frequently multiply nested). Realistically the
per-byte signal-noise ratio of the average Duo digest is about 30%, but
it's not so much the intentional contents of the messages as the poor email
hygiene and netiquette.

Please, people, trim any excess stuff off your messages before sending them
to the list - especially check what your mail program has automatically put
at the bottom and get rid of it if it doesn't belong there. In fact you
should do this as a matter of course before sending any message anywhere on
the net at all, but it's especially important with a broadcase mailing list
such as this one. Beyond the wasted bandwidth, it simply makes your meaning
harder to read and understand.
