Au contraire, mon cher. I said that I do my own work, but do it knowing
my limits, and my resourcefulness when things don't go just right.
Almost everybody else whom I know personally would NOT be able to deal
with these types of problems. They might try to pull too hard on a part
that looks like it should pop out, and (for example) break the
powersupply circuit card. They might over- or under-tighten screws,
leading to trouble. If you are used to working on machines, you are used
to dealing with these types of screwups, and life goes on. But often you
learn lessons -- like Pirsig's "gumption traps" -- that you didn't
bargain for.
