Greetings-
I recently inherited a Powerbook Duo 2300c and PowerBook Duo Dock Plus.
Current Situation
When in the docking station, unit works fine. When used in the portable mode
the mouse does not respond when trying to use the trackpad. In either mode
when I try to open the trackpad control panel I get the error - The control
panel "Trackpad" cannot be used with this computer.
What I've Tried
Based on info from the Apple website I've tried to reset the power manager.
I followed their instructions - remove unit from dock, remove battery and AC
adapter, wait 15-20 minutes, press reset button on back of unit for 15-20
seconds - and tried the shareware utility ResetPwrMgr with no improvement.
It was also suggested to zap the PRAM. I did this in two ways: the
option-apple-P-R keys upon restart and with Tech Tool Pro. No improvement.
I stumbled across an extension called PowerBook 2300c Update that Apple says
has to be in the extension folder for the trackpad to work properly.
Installed and restarted with no improvement.
The unit came with 8.0 installed. I performed a clean install of 8.5. No
improvement.
I apologize for the long post but I wanted to include as much info as
possible. Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks...
