I didn't realize it until it came loose on my AC adapter, but the cylindrical part of the plug to the 2400 doesn't really do anything but shield. Without it the plug <appears> to be identical to a 3.5mm stereo miniplug. Radioshack will have one I'm sure.

On the other end, the case can be sliced or sawn open and the wires resoldered.
