I recently bought a duo 280c with a 14.4 Express modem. Last night it began giving me problems when I mistakenly tried to turn off the Express modem after doing a download (using the Express modem control panel) BEFORE disconnecting PPP. I've been keeping the modem in the off position except when I want to go online, as a battery conservation habit. Now every time I turn the modem off or on the computer crashes; even without trying to do anything with the modem, the computer will not shut down or restart. I rebuilt the desktop once, I pared down the extensions, and I trashed the Express modem and Modem preferences. After doing the preferences trashing, the duo was able to do one restart, but the next time I tried to restart it just crashed. Anybody know what's going on? I've got system 7.6 and 24MB memory. Come to think of it, I haven't really used the restart or shut down function much since buying the machine...I've just been letting it sleep. However, I'll be buying a dock soon and will definitely need the shut down more regularly. Dan ---------- Duo/2400 List, The friendliest place on the Net!
