Hi list,
I just bought PB170. Fabulous machine!! Sorry this is OT, but I've got
no where to ask other than this wonderful list :-)
The PB170 has dead HD, so I replace it with my spare HD. I noticed it
has Global Village modem but different kind from my Duo. I search the GV
web, and for PB100 series they have PowerPort Platinum and Mercury. Also
since the PB has dead HD, I don't have the modem driver. Strangely,
after reinstalling 7.6.1, the Modem control panel won't recognize the
internal modem. Is it because the modem is driverless? My PB3400 and
Duo280c doesn't need a driver for Modem control panel to recognize the
internal modem port (of course to activate the GV modem in duo 280c I
have to install the software). Is the modem faulty?

Any help are greatly appreciated.

Best Regards,

Albert
