Hello,
I've made a few changes on how the lists are handled that I thought I'd
let you know about.

#1 Bounced messages

Each week I get about 1000 messages that were unable to be delivered to
my lists sent back to me. The messages come back for various reasons, if
your mailbox is full, you changed your address, your ISPs server is down,
etc. These messages are called bounces. In the past I would have gone
through these messages by hand to determine which addresses should be
removed.

We are now using a product called SmartBounce
<http://www.smartbounce.com/> to handle messages that come back to me
from the lists. It analyzes the bounces and compares them to the
subscription lists and automatically removes the addresses that have been
unable to be delivered.

This means two things, first that I don't have to spend hours a week
doing it by hand (YEAH!), and also that you might be removed if there is
a problem with your email server. If for some reason you stop receiving
messages from one of the lists, try to subscribe again to see if you may
have been removed. You can find a link to the FAQ for each list at the
bottom of each message from the list. You can find information about
re-joining the list there.

#2 List sponsorship.
You may have noticed the little ads at the bottom of each message from
the list. These are generally paid advertising to help support the lists.
I have recently formed an alliance with Dan Knight of Low End Mac to
handle sponsorship of the lists. My lists were created with much the same
priorities as Dan's.

Most all of the lists have openings for sponsorship and they allow you to
reach a targeted group of Mac users. Over all my lists we send out about
3.5 million messages a month. This takes time and resources that
sponsorships can help offset.

You can find more information about sponsoring my lists and those at Low
End Mac at:

Thank you for your support and encouragement!
