I've recently replaced the power supply in my duo dock II and got it
working again. The service manual had led me awry a bit; the old power
supply tested fine for voltage according to the manual, but when I replaced
it with a PS from another (plain) Duo Dock, the Dock II worked fine.

I've installed (with difficulty) a digidesign Audio card (it's as long as
the interior of the dock and just barely fits. I had to take the metal
plate with the nubus slots completely off the chassis to get the card in
-- then, because I figured it might have a grounding purpose, I put it back
as best I could by bending some of its connecting fingers). I want to try
some audio recording and sequencing with this thing, though I haven't yet
got all the equipment and software I need. I have a feeling I'll be pushing
the capabilities of my 280c.

I'm a little leery of the power supply's capabilities. As an experiment, I
connected in the drive bay my old 160MB HD originally from my performa 475
-- just loose, with no bracket. The drive wouldn't mount; I guess I need to
change its scsi ID #, which I don't know how to do (something to do with
the tiny little plastic thing on those little pins, right?). For some
reason, I decided to disconnect its SCSI cable but leave the power cord
connected -- and ended up with a (temporarily) dead dock. Removing the HD
completely solved that. But: did it die because all this stuff in the dock
is taxing to the PS? Or because I'm experimenting in a most cavalier manner?

This dock is a pretty complicated piece of equipment and I wonder if I
really should max it out with HD's and Nubus Cards for digital audio
(something I should maybe get at least a PM 7100 for)
