Been there, done that. With Duo 230, a few years ago. (with ADB keyboard &
external mouse, monitor, etc, but with Duo Minidock [the strip at the
back). Inever quite figured i out, but i did get rid of the
problem. For a while, it seemed that, without my knowledge, someting [a book
on my cluttered desk] was intermittently resting onthe edge of one of the
keyboards [which ever one I was not using].
However, fixing that did not relieve the problem.

Here are the things I did [the basics, not in this order, necessarily] :
ran Norton Disk Dr and other diagnostics [Safe & Sound would fix and fix
things that NDD mixed].
defragmented files [i.e. ran Norton Speed Disk].
rebuilt desktop,
zapped pram,
re-set the power manager,
did clean install of system [with minimum of necessary extensions].

this was before the days of Conflict Catcher - but, as I recall, one of the
culprits was control panels -- both Easy Access and another one [Mouse
Keys?] combined. Easy Access has a way of turning itself on/off
"mysteriously"

Before doing a tedious re-install, you might try just reinstalling any
extensions and control panels that are related to the keyboard.

What else? The highest I ever worked in [on the 230] was system 7.1. I had
it installed with Duo enabler and System Update 2.0. I am pretty sure this
problem occurred before I had installed the enabler and the update.

Anyway, those are all good maintenance things to do. Oh, also, I installed
more memory, and made sure that applications had enough memory to work in.
I definitely found that the "Gremlins" [as I called them] were not
application specific. I first noticed it when I was online via Telnet.

Also, I switched to a different external keyboard [Kinesis, or ergonomic
reasons]. By that time, either the Gremlins had already gone away, or else
the Keyboard From Mars [so-caled because of the 'craters" in the Kinesis]
chased them away.

Let us know what happens when you do your detective work: looking for
patterns: whether VM is on/off. what applications are open? what is the
sequence of activities/keystrokes occuring most immediately before the
onset of this elusive ...... ?

P.S. Mine began ["coincidentally?] after my ISP made some changes.

Let us know what you find out.
