The Duo uses a special 4/5ths AA cell.  If you can find them, you can replace 
them.  I bought some at a local hamfest/computershow (had to call the guy 
first so that he brought them), paid around $4.50 each. $45 for a "new" 
battery for a Duo is not too bad!!  Make sure you get nickel hydride cells.  
I'm currently playing with a set of LiON cells to see if these work with the 
Duo.  Try scanning the 'Net for battery resellers ( Mr. Battery comes rapidly 
to mind, he sells nickel hydride batteries to a lot of ham radio operators).
