I goofed on my report that Apple cardbus support 1.3.5 would correct the Mac OS 9 problem of not allowing the MacAlly USB PCMCIA card to be inserted upon startup of the PB 2400. I should have tried several restarts before I falsely reported. Sorry about that. On a brighter note I not only have the Farallon SkyLINE wireless PCMCIA card and Apple Airport working together (thanks to the outstanding tech support of Farallon and a replaced Airport base station through Outpost.com), but I just installed the WaveLAN PCMCIA card and it worked right out of the box! That is, after I downloaded the drivers from WavLAN.com as the provided CD, even though it states for MAC, will not be recognized. Once I down loaded the driver software and restarted with the WaveLAN PCMCIA card inserted it "talked" to the Airport (and, hence, my RoadRunner cable modem through the ethernet hub) immediately and I was on line without further adieu! This is being sent from my bedroom with the Airport base station in my office some fifty feet away. I will experiment later on distances, but I think I saw a reference whereby one can purchase an extended antenna for the WaveLAN. Any comments, please, re the antenna. WaveLAN was purchased through MacMall.com. Dallas ---------- Duo/2400 List, The friendliest place on the Net! A listserv for users and fans of Mac subportables.
