Graham,
I agree that you should try resetting the scsi address to 3. I've heard so
many times that Apple prefers 3 for CD ROMs for some reason. Also, make sure
you are using the correct HDI30 cable. It should be missing one of the pins in
the corner of the powerbook end. Good luck. "The (SCSI) voodoo is out there!"
