Although you can try use AppleTalk to install over a network, it will
be painfully slow. I have found that sometimes on a big install, it
will time out or just not work.
If possible, get an Ethernet PC card for the 2400 and run the install
as described below via Ethernet.

Dock mode works fine and is the fastest. Wipe the old HD clean and reinstall
using the CD drive in the desktop Mac.
