Abe,
I'm afraid you're probably not the only one left with question marks after
"partial" correspondence with me. Actually, I'm pretty sure I'm not a crook
(ebay reviews still all positive for DK.Wally) just someone totally overwhelmed
here ever since I bit off too much to chew by buying 1200 used Macs. As far as
testing goes, all I can do is boot a machine, eliminate the security if
present, run system profiler/record the configuration, do a cosmetic and
chassis inspect, clean off a dozen Motorola inventory labels, and if it's a
laptop try to find a battery that will take some charge. How to trully rate
the life of a used battery (pulled from a pile of 200) is a problem I haven't
solved. All I can say is is you are disappointed, your entitled but you'll
probably have to get in line. With plummeting Mac prices my option so far is
to spend a little efficient time with as many machines as I can get too. Amid
this already over-reaching project my wife and I operate a full service sign
company and a Mexican Restaurant ......now come the questions about my sanity
but "That's my story and I'm stickin' to it". Specifically about batteries, I
just can't guarantee them. They all look like new but sat for about 18 months
or more (when Apple was on the ropes and the PC guys got Motorola to jump ship)
in their PB's and in boxes under conditions only God knows about. Regarding
the DOA/exchange question, I've have only one complaint. It was an ebay sale
and the gentleman produced death chime(s) on a 280c. After instructing him to
try resetting the power manager and zapping the pram he was still concerned and
I told him to send it and the accessories back. I paid shipping both ways -
really a pretty civil deal. When I received it I personally used it for a week
to see if the death chime complaint was valid and never was able to get it to
do that. Ironically, the mouse gave up that week and it was best that I did
get it back anyway. Just have not had time and resource to do a good enough
job to please all and handle, what is to me, a deluge of email. Genuinely
sorry to have raised your concern.
