Background:
I've had a duo 280c for about 6 month's now and I recently decided to get on
the net. I upgraded my system from 7.5 to 7.5.3. In order to take advantage
of open transport and the many programs that require it.
Unfortunately my laptop soon after the was not recognizing my old free
ppp connection. I thought that it might be open transport 1.1 so I installed
open transport from 7.5.5 release 2.
Unfortunately upon restart I got the blinking disk with question mark.
So then I needed to invest in a docking station in order to use the
disk-drive.
This is where I need some help.
Problem:
Upon starting up from my startup disk I tried to run disk tools from an
image on my hard-drive. Disk aid then froze the machine when I clicked on
analyze.
Upon restart the machine makes the system chime then proceeds with a
series of rapid clicks emanating from the speaker. The machine just sits
there as if in sleep mode with no light on. but when I power off the light
blinks as if in sleep mode.
The chimes are about four second long in total. Comprising of four tones
of equal length.
medium, high, medium, low
When I start the duo outside of the dock it makes the same sound from
the speaker.
Question:
What's the problem?
Has My hard-drive been erased?
Is there any chance of data recovery?
Was the dock the initial cause (click of death)?
If anyone can help me or point me in any direction for help I would greatly
appreciate it.
Thanks Andrew
