Holger,

I have had a VERY similar problem and the problem was not fixed.
After a year of using the Newer 240/512 with my 2400 it suddenly
died!! No boot, just a faint click when the power button was
pressed. No grey screen, no disk spin up. Just click. After
fiddling for about 3 days I found that the apple 603 card worked
perfectly. The G3 card was shot! SO I had newer replace it, and the
replacement didn't work, just click, but the 603ev card still worked
perfectly. Newer replaced my card 2 more times and one worked four
about 2 days, but then it died- but the 603 card still worked. My
2400 had become phobic to the G3 card. I can't believe it is a heat
issue, because most times it never even booted the computer...
something happened, maybe to much heat in the past burnt something...
but the computer works flawlessly with the 603 card. (you still have
your 603 card RIGHT? ) I ended up getting Newer to replace my G3
card one last time and I ebay'd it for over $500 USD. I have seen
replacement 603ev PB2400 daughter cards going for $15 on ebay.
